Dental Implant Therapy for a Stronger Smile
If you have missing teeth or are making plans to replace a tooth that needs to be extracted, then implants are the highest standard of care available.
What is an Implant?
These biocompatible prosthetics are a series of artificial tooth roots that are anchored into the jaw. Made from surgical grade titanium, your body bonds to the artificial root and creates new bone around it, permanently anchoring it into place. In fact, implants can last an entire lifetime – and they are capable of supporting more weight than natural teeth.
Once an implant is installed, we will place a restoration on top of it. With implants, we can strengthen your oral health by preserving natural tooth structure and enhancing the quality of bone throughout the jaws
Depending on the number of implants (and number of missing teeth), restorations could include:
- Single Crowns
- Multi-Tooth Bridges
- Fixed or Retained Dentures
Due to their integrity, implants can replace multiple teeth at a time. In fact, only as few as 4 to 6 implant roots may be necessary to support a full mouth prosthesis.
Your Implant Treatment
We provide start to finish implant placement and restoration here in our San Bruno office. This prevents the need for Dr. Lee to refer you to a specialist or surgical facility for the first phase of treatment.
In most cases, your therapy will be broken up into about 3 appointments over the course of 3 to 12 months, depending on your individual needs. The various stages include steps such as dental extractions, socket preservation, surgical placement of the prosthesis, healing, and then installation of the fixed restoration.
At your initial implant consultation, we can provide you with a more detailed care plan that outlines the specific procedures and timeline. Want to learn more? Schedule a complimentary visit with Dr. Lee today in our San Bruno facility.
