The nice thing about San Bruno and the surrounding region is that there is never a shortage of things to do no matter the time of year.
If you’re looking to get out with family and friends this October, here are five suggestions worth checking out:
Rocky Ridge Half Marathon/10k/5k
Think you’ve got what it takes to tackle some of California’s most challenging yet beautiful terrain? Then sign up for the Rock Ridge Half Marathon/10k/5k on October 1. Runners of all speeds are welcome, even beginners – though be prepared for 4,000 feet of ascent and descent! The race is being held in San Ramon and features a hefty prize purse. Take note, there is a registration fee.
Shakespeare in the Park
You don’t have to go to New York City for events like Shakespeare in the Park! On Sunday, October 23, the bard’s beloved comedy “Twelfth Night” will be performed at 2pm at San Bruno City Park Rotary Pavilion. It’s a fantastic opportunity to expose yourself and your family to live entertainment, culture, and a few laughs.
Storytime at the Library
Families will like this one. Throughout October, you and the kids can enjoy storytime at the San Bruno library every Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Mondays feature Pajama Storytime for ages 3 and up from 6:30-7pm. Baby Storytime is every Wednesday from 11:30am to noon, and is for children up to 3 years old. It features songs, movement, and plenty to engage a baby! Finally, Itsy-Bitsy Storytime is from 11:15am-11:45am and is geared towards children 18 months to 3 years old.
Bay Area Beer & Slider Fest
If you love your suds and meat, the Bay Area Beer & Slider Fest is probably going to be on your agenda for October 22. Being held in Concord, it will feature tons of food from local eateries, local craft beers, and more. Plus, proceeds help the local food banks! The event is 1-4pm at Crowne Plaza Concord/Walnut Creek.
C’mon, who doesn’t like pizza? On October 15 in Berkeley, you and the family can experience the best pie from over a dozen teams of outstanding pizza makers. Contests, people’s choice awards and more will highlight the day, and proceeds benefit local charities. Plus, kids under 12 get in free! Look for this event at 1250 9th Street starting at 11am.
The nice thing is, these five quick getaways only just scratch the surface when it comes to things to do a short drive from San Bruno – so get out there and enjoy some time with the family!
